3 Dinner Hacks that Impress

How many of you have thought "MAN how am I suppose to make dinner when I'm so busy today?"

I know I look at pinterest and think I don't have time to let anything sit and marinate! I need it fast I've got a hungry family.

Today I'm actually going to share a few tricks I've learned along the way to make dinner easier and make each meal seem as if you slaved all day preparing it.




Bump Boxed Mac & Cheese

My tricks to making a box of mac & cheese taste as if I've been slaving away on it is these simple steps:

  • Take a box of mac and cheese and cook the pasta as the box suggested. Once the pasta is done ere is where the fun begins. Add 1/2 cup of shredded sharp cheese and 1/2 cup low fat evaporated milk and mix. Add 2 tsp of butter and the packet of cheese that is included w/the box. Mix it well until you get a cheesy melty goodness.  Your family will expect this each and every time you prepare mac and cheese.

  • This one is another that I love that again involves using a box and enhancing it. Again start cooking as the box suggest and add 1 cup and a 1/2 of regular uncooked white grain rice. (I love this trick as I have 6 people to feed in my family so not only does it stretch how much I have but it makes the rice fluffier)   When it is about to start to boil add a can of beans. This will make you have a rice and beans mix which is one of my family favorite! Let it boil and then lower the fire and cover. Check on it 10 mins and make sure to mix and incorporate the rice and beans and cover again till it's cooked (10-15 mins or so) Fork up the rice to fluff up. Service w/your favorite side dish. 
Magic Crockpot BBQ Chicken

  • I've mentioned before how getting a whole cooked chicken from the supermarket is a gal's best friend  HERE so I thought I'd share again how EASY it is to get some yummy BBQ shredded chicken that is awesome to use for other meals as well with the leftovers you get. All you need is to get a cooked chicken and a bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce and sherd the chicken and place in your crockpot and pour the bottle (yes the whole thing) and cook on low for 2-4 hours and serve! You could make chicken BBQ Tacos, BBQ Chicken salad, BBQ Chicken with rice ,veggies it's endless what you can pair it with.
