If your like me you have to bake the perfect cookies for Santa for when he arrives. Well I'll be able to help you with that but I also would love to help pair them up with something else other then the traditional milk for you because I'm pretty sure you will do a little taste testing before Christmas arrives for yourself and the adults in your life to get through the busy that the holidays can bring.
I'd love to tell you today about Wente Vineyards Wine which is the perfect touch to add when enjoying these holidays treats.
Complimenting these wines and treats in itself is sort of a little touch of magic if you ask me.. It's a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday season.
These are three of my favorite cookies to make along with a wonderful wine I've found that pair with each one.
Southern Hill Cabernet Sauvignon is a perfect match to enjoy everyone's favorite: Chocolate chip cookies especially if the chips in the cookies are of the dark variety.
Riva Ranch Pino Grigo will make a platter of sweet snowball cookies even more divine to enjoy as the crumbly goodness will just melt in your mouth with the savory taste of this delicious wine.
Last but not least is one that I really have enjoyed and already plan to purchase a few more to gift few friends with a platter of my butter cookies and a nice bottle of Morning Fog Chardonnay. Today I'll share a super simple but so yummy butter cookie recipe that will enhance the both together.
Now about that recipe for some really yummy butter cookies to go with the Chardonnay as well as the cookies that I'm pretty sure Santa will love as well.
Holiday Butter Cookies
Sweet and buttery cookies perfect as a treat for the Holidays.
- unsalted butter 1/2 cup (1 stick)
- Sugar 1/4 cup & 1 tbsp
- all purpose flour 1 cup
- colored sugar 2 tbsp (for each cookie)
Preheat oven to 325 and line parchment paper on a large baking sheet.Using an electric mixer cream the butter in a large mixing bowl until it turns white, about 1 minute. Add the sugar and continue to beat for about five minutes, until very smooth and creamy. Retire the mixer and slowly work in the flour with a spatula. The dough will be really soft, that is what you want.Take 3 Tbsp of the dough and make a circle and flatten. Place on baking sheet and use a fork to indent to make the design. Now add the colored sugar.Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, watching carefully—you want to catch the cookies right when they’re getting golden so they wouldn't burn It’ll depend on your oven so make sure to keep an eye as they bake. Once they are done cool cookies on the sheets for 10 minutes, once they are cool grab one and enjoy with a glass of wine.
