5 Kid Friendly Recipes For Lent - Adventures With Ellie

5 Kid Friendly Recipes For Lent

Lent will be here before we know it. It happens to actually start (Ash Wednesday) this year on my Wedding anniversary which means our meal will have to be meatless which I actually can do. I'm thinking Baked Ziti (w/extra cheese please) That got me thinking what will we eat for the rest of Lent?

For my family during Lent we do not eat meat on Fridays till Easter. This year personally I will add Wednesdays as well so I thought I'd share a few a recipes I'd like to make for my family and maybe if you needed a meatless recipe you could use one of these recipes as well.

I don't know about you but growing up it usually ended up that during Lent I'd eat a grilled cheese for lunch and dinner on Fridays as my mom made cod fish and I was never a fan or I'd make a tuna sandwich which after a couple weeks got old really quickly!

2 out of my 4 kids don't like tuna so that will leave us with either me making regular pasta with tomato sauce or pizza (which we almost always have on Fridays anyway!) I mean my youngest will be happy because if it were up to her she'd eat pasta everyday.

This year I  wanted to make some yummy and different meatless meals. I got to work and did some research and here are a few I can't wait to try out!

Crock Pot Taco Soup :
In my family we LOVE Taco Night and that's one thing we have on a weekly basis so when I saw this "Vegan "Taco Soup that I could make in a crockpot well I knew I had to add it to my must makes. Can't wait to try this!

Cream of Broccoli Soup:
My middle kids always request to get the broccoli soup when we head to Panera so when I saw this recipe I knew they would probably be requesting this one LOTS after I make it for sure!

Balsamic Glazed Cauliflower:

When I saw this I gasped because you see I love Balsamic glazed chicken so when I saw this I was thinking will this actually be tasty? Will my KIDS like it?! but what I have learned about cauliflower  is that they take on any seasoning you put into it and if you look at the ingredinets they are really easy and very flavorful and I can't wait to try this.

Squash Pesto Spaghetti :

Oh my my mouth was watering when I found this recipe! I have become a real fan of making spaghetti squash so this was something I know my family (kids especially will love)

Zucchini-Bell Pepper Pizza :

Of course I couldn't  do this post without sharing a recipe that had to do with Pizza! What is more fun then getting your kids in the kitchen to help you. This pizza is full of veggies but for me I find when I am making something like this that my kids might make a face if you have them help you they WILL eat it! So this is something that I see will not only make it a fun dinner but a fun family time.

What are some of your go to meatless recipes? I'd love if you would share it with me. Also if you happen to make one of these I'd love to hear how your family enjoyed it!
